The Belize environment is full of surprises and discoveries!

Belize is a tropical destination and as such offers  luxuriant, rich and diverse flora. In Placencia, as with all of Belize, well-designed outdoor areas including a well-curated sampling of the diverse flora are the beating heart of home life, for making lasting memories, for relaxing, for refreshing and enjoying the beauty of the moment. As a landscape architecture firm located on the shore of Belize, we have learned over the years how to handle site specific constraints such as salty soils and winds, proximity of the sea, possibility of erosion, seasonal sargassum invasions, presence of flower eating iguanas, poor soils, and cold fronts. We are able to combine this knowledge of the local environment with local and international inspirations to express your own style, for enhancing the architecture of your home or for creating the environment that will best suits your needs, your dreams and your lifestyle.

3In this project, Manaka was tasked with remodeling a screened-in porch to become a stylish pergola lined with tropical plants which connects the house to the pool. Design considerations for this renovation included soil remediation, converting the acidic soil so it could bear trees and plants under the pine tree canopy, as well as irrigation, careful landscape species selection and well-placed lighting to highlight the new landscape. The result turned a mostly unused space into the luxuriant tropical escape that is so frequently sought after in our little corner of the world.
